The web services offered by TiVA satisfy the following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines,
recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium.
-
Provide equivalent alternatives to auditory and visual content.
- Every non-text element has a text equivalent provided. This includes images, graphical representations of text, images used as list bullets and buttons.
- Spacer graphics have been given a NULL ALT attribute.
-
Don't rely on colour alone.
- All information conveyed with colour is also available without colour, for example from context or markup.
- Foreground and background colour combinations provide sufficient contrast when viewed by someone having colour deficits or when viewed on a black and white screen.
-
Use markup and style sheets and do so properly.
- When an appropriate markup language exists, markup is used rather than images to convey information.
- Style sheets are used to control presentation.
- Relative rather than absolute units in markup language attribute values and style sheet property values are used.
- Header elements are used to convey document structure.
- Lists and list items are marked up correctly.
-
Clarify natural language usage.
- The primary natural language of the documents are identified.
-
Create tables that transform gracefully.
- Data tables have row and column headers identified.
- Tables used for layout makes sense when linearised.
- Structural markup is not used for the purpose of visual formatting.
-
Ensure that pages featuring new technologies transform gracefully.
- Documents are organised in such a way that they can be read without style sheets.
-
Use interim solutions.
- Pop-ups or new windows are not opened without first warning the user.
- All form labels are properly positioned.
-
Use W3C technologies and guidelines.
- W3C technologies are used when they are available and appropriate for a task and the latest versions are used where supported.
- Deprecated features of W3C technologies are avoided where possible.
-
Provide clear navigation mechanisms.
- The target of each link is clearly identified through meaningful text.
- Navigation mechanisms are used in a consistent manner.
- Navigation bars are provided to highlight and access the navigational mechanism.
-
Ensure that documents are clear and simple.
- The clearest and simplest language appropriate for the site's content is used throughout.
- A style of presentation is used that is consistent across pages.
